Tech, tech and more tech for MENA

Technology in MENA The hiring climate in this part of the world remains very hot despite of lot of ambivalence seen in the Oil & Gas market. In particular, technology hiring at Cobalt has surged over 50% year on year in placing professionals in MENA market. In addition, we are seeing the following trends:

The desire for digital transformation

The majority of roles are coming from local groups including banks and government entities. This is in response to them trying to catch up with the current modern trend of upgrading their systems in line with current the Digital Transformation age. Many of these organizations are re-inventing & re-aligning current practices, systems and its teams in order to bring about a more connected customer experience. Example projects include going paperless or integrating digital technologies such as mobile, cloud and social.

Off the back of this, employers in the UAE are very interested in speaking to professionals with experience of Enterprise Applications, Data Center Virtualization and Cloud Computing. According to the Cisco Global Cloud Index Forecast (2014 – 2019), the Middle East and Africa is expected to have the highest cloud traffic growth rate (41% CAGR), which is slightly higher than Central & East Europe and North America.

Ramping up security
With a formidable rise in security threats, companies increasingly feel the need to deploy security polices. As a result, professionals with security certifications are now in demand.

Technology startups
We are seeing a rise in technology establishing their offices in the MENA region in response to the recent demand for outsourced/consultancy services in the market.

Across all types of employers, the certifications that are in demand include CEH, CISSP, CISCO Certifications (CCNA, CCNP or CCIE), MCSD and PMP.
